Explore the Arab Public Library

The Arab Public Library is located at 325 2nd Street in Arab and has a collection of approximately 52,000 printed materials and 55,000 electronic materials. Library cards are free to Marshall County residents with proof of residence (driver’s liscense, utility bill, or renter’s agreement) or a one-time $5 fee per family for nonresidents. Cards are required to check out books, movies, audiobooks, the seed library, and to access the library’s digital collections on Libby. 

In addition to the materials available for checkout, the Arab Public Library offers various services and programs to the community. Regular programming includes:

  • Pre-school Children’s Story Time | Wednesday 9:30-10:00 am
    Children enjoy stories, music, special guests and crafts.
  • Legos at the Library | Every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Stitches in the Stacks Crochet Club | Every Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.
  • Third Tuesday for Teens Program | 3rd Tuesday of each month 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • A-List Book Club | 2nd Monday of each Month at 1:00 p.m.
  • BYOB Book Club |  4th Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m.
Children gather around and listen to a story during the PreK Storytime at the Arab Public Library.
Children and their families are invited to enjoy the PreK storytime each week.

Summer Reading Program

The library also offers a professional quality summer reading program to all children from toddlers to teens each year. The program encourages children to read for pleasure and is designed to keep children reading year-round. The program provides an opportunity for children to use computers, search the internet and socialize with peers. Incentive prizes, entertaining programs, and end of summer pool party are all part of the program.

Basic Computer Class

On Fridays in the months of January, April, July, and October from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. the library offers a series of computer classes with 12 library computers available for patron use. Registration Required and can be completed by callingl 256-586-3366.

Participants learn how to use the mouse, surf the internet, and set up an e-mail account.

Public Meeting Room 

The Arab Public Library offers a public meeting room for patrons. The room may be reserved by calling 256-586-3366.

Computer and Printing Services 

The library has 12 computers available for patron use with access to the internet and printing. Additionally the library has free wifi available, access to the Alabama Public Library’s educational programs to include ACT prep, homework help, and more. Black and white copies are available for $0.25 per page, color copies are available for $0.50 per page, and the printer is $0.25 per page. Faxing service is available for $2 for the first page sent and $1 for each additional page. Faxing is only available for domestic use, with no international service or receiving services. Arab Public Library accepts cash or checks for payment. Credit/debit cards are not accepted at this time.

Arab Friends of Library Bookstore

The Arab Friends of the Library Bookstore is a charming and community-oriented space located adjacent to the Arab Public Library. Operated by the Friends of the Library, a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization, the bookstore provides an excellent resource for book enthusiasts and library supporters alike.
